Subaru takes it seriously when they have to release a product. But they are very slow about it, typically. This is something decisively carefully, it seems. But now there may very well be a change on the horizon. This comes in the form of an all-electric vehicle that will be declared as an SUV partnership with Toyota. Subaru of America makes it known that their new vehicle will be known as the full-electric SUV Solterra. It’s a joint gig between Subaru and Toyota with an all-electric platform. This will be known as the e-Subaru Global Platform. According to a statement, “The joint venture combines Subaru’s expertise in all-wheel-drive technology with Toyota’s vehicle electrification technology.”
When Subaru talks about what Solterra means, they claim that it has some old-world origins.
They had this to say: “The name Solterra was created using the Latin words for “Sun” and “Earth” to represent Subaru’s commitment to deliver traditional SUV capabilities in an environmentally responsible package.”
As if the details weren’t murky enough, the carmaker has previously made it apparent that the car will arrive in the first half of the 2020s. Subaru is making it known that the Solterra very well could hit the dealerships as easily as next year. Subaru engineers had been working hard at the idea of an all-wheel-drive capability, which may very well be the defining factor for the e-SUBARU vehicle. It also comes with superior driving dynamics with “world-leading passive safety.”
Other aspects of the release of this Solterra model would be that Toyota themselves are also hellbent on welcoming the first all-electric SUV to the market themselves. This vehicle is truly going to be amongst the best of Subaru. Which involve the following models: the Outback, the Forester, the Crosstrek and even the Crosstrek PHEV. Interested buyers should consider buying the Solterra in 2022, when it hits the actual stores in person.
